GEDUNG SATE This Majestic heritage building still serve it's

governmental function until today.

Built on 1920 by Ir. J. Gerber, with neo-classical style

mixed with native elements.

The name refer to the shape of building's central pinnacle-

which resemble the shape of Indonesian famous dish called " Satay ".

As the center of Bandung's political & social life,

political demonstrations & rallies are expected here,

as well as entertainment events & mass prayers during

Moslem Holidays such as Idul Adha & Idul Fitri.

Bandung is very famous with Factory Outlets (FO), in here you can hunt for hug quality outfit with a low price.

It was originally made for expot garment (textile ) factory that open a store directly in their area

so that they can sell with a bargain price. Since it was a big success many outlets without factory 

sprung along Bandung's main street, such as Riau Street, Dago and Cihampelas.

Uptown (also opens a cafe that sells good chicken noodle & famous for the strawberry juice),

Local Delicacies

Bandung is famous for it's local food. These are some " must try " food that you can easily find around the city :

1. Bakso Tahu / Siomay is a steamed meat with/without tofu. It is served with peanut paste, sweet soy sauce and a lime. You can find somebody selling this food with a wheeled stall (gerobak). The popular place is called Siomay Pak Lili at Jl. Geger Kalong Girang that has sold this food for 15 years.

2. Batagor is similar to bakso tahu/siomay but it is fried instead of being steamed. Legends are Kingsley at Jl. Veteran, selling this food already for 28 years,Batagor Riri at Jl. Burangrang 41 (in front of the BCA building), Batagor Haji Isan at Jl. Bojongloa, and Batagor Haji Darto at Pasar Simpang Dago.

3. Martabak is a fried stuffed pancake. There are two types: sweet and savory. Sweet martabak is a thick pancake stuffed with chocolate/cheese/banana/sugar. The savory martabak is a thin fried pancake stuffed with eggs, some vegetables, mushrooms, chicken/beef. The most popular ones are Martabak Lodaya and Martabak San Fransisco at Jln. Lodaya. One better martabak which should not be forgotten is Martabak Canada at Jalan Kebon Kawung near the gas station 

4. Soto Bandung is a soup with beef meat, soy beans and some vegetables. The old food stalls selling this food is Soto Ojolali, Jl. Cibadak (near alun-alun), since 1940s.
